CRlogTransport.exe the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142) & laptop won't boot

Hi, when my laptop was last working I remember an error message flashed up, but I didn't take notice of it. Yesterday when the laptop restarted it wouldn't boot anymore. It did the Dell startup symbol then got stuck on a black screen with a white arrow. It wouldn't progress to the login screen. I restarted it and tried some basic Dell troubleshooting but didn't find anything and got stuck.

Today I am having slightly more success in that it's progressing to the login page with the time and date but then switches to the black screen again, back to the login page but pressing enter doesn't bring me to Windows like it normally would. It just goes to the black screen. It has also flashed the error message again, and now I can see it's "CRlogTransport.exe the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)"

I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this as most of the advice I can see is when the computer has already booted. I see people discussing it as a Windows issue and others saying Adobe. I don't understand enough to know what's what.

Please help with simple steps? I really need my computer back!

P.s. now I am getting an error message about posting this question! 🤣🤣🤣

    Hello

I am Abdal and I would be glad to help you with your question.

The error message "CRlogTransport.exe the application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)" means that the CRLogTransport.exe file is corrupt or missing. This file is used by Adobe applications, so it's possible that the error is caused by an Adobe application. However, it's also possible that the error is caused by a Windows issue.

To troubleshoot this issue, here are some steps you can try:

Restart your computer. This may fix the error if it's caused by a temporary glitch.

Update your graphics driver. Outdated or corrupt graphics drivers can sometimes cause problems with Adobe applications. You can update your graphics driver by visiting the website of your graphics card manufacturer and downloading the latest driver for your model.

You can also check for any pending windows updates.

    I hope this information helps.

    Regards,

    Abdal

    Hi Abdal,

Thanks so much for this advice. I can't boot my computer though, if you read what it ve said carefully? How do I do what you've suggested without being able to access Windows? I have a Dell XPS laptop.

    Cheers,

    Sarah

    Hello

I am Abdal and I would be glad to help you with your question.

Apologies for misunderstanding your situation. If you're unable to boot your computer and access Windows, you'll need to use safe mode in Windows. Here's what you can try:

On the sign-in screen of Windows, press and hold the Shift key while clicking on Power > Restart.

Once your PC restarts and you reach the "Choose an option" screen, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart. You may need to provide your BitLocker recovery key during this process.

After the restart, you will be presented with a list of options. Select option 4 or press F4 to initiate safe mode on your PC. If you require internet access, choose option 5 or press F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
