Changing billing country

Hello I have a 365 account that is coming up for billing soon. I opened the account with a card from Australia. I now want to change the payment to where I am currently based (not Australia) and use a card from this country. It does not give me the option.

Do I have to cancel the subscription and do another fresh one from where the card I want to use is based?

    Hello,

I spoke to a support person who informed me that I need to wait for the current plan to finish before I can change my region.

I tried to log in to my account using the URL: https://admin.microsoft.com provided here, but if I try to log in there, it does not recognize my email address (although I can log in if I go to the store and I just had a conversation from my account with support), so, I will just wait for the subscription to expire next month and then deal with it.

Using the admin URL, when I try to log in, I get this message (edited for my privacy):

xxxxanga.mg isn't in our system. Make sure that you typed it correctly.

I have to get back to work now, my issue is resolved at least temporarily so I am going to log out of this forum but thanks for trying to help.

    Hello Brett,

To change the billing country for your Microsoft 365 account, you don't necessarily have to cancel the subscription and start a new one. Instead, you can do this:

    • Sign in to your Microsoft 365 account using your current credentials. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center. You can access it by visiting the following URL: https://admin.microsoft.com.
    • In the admin center, navigate to the Billing section.
    • Look for the "Payment method" option and click on it. Here, you should have the option to update your billing information, including the country and the card details. Update the billing country to the country where you are currently based and enter the new card information.
    • Save the changes, and your billing country should be updated.

If you encounter any issues or are unable to find the option to update your billing country, it's recommended to contact Microsoft Support directly. They will be able to assist you further and provide specific guidance based on your account details. I hope this information helps you with updating your billing country.

    Kindest regards,

Hi Brett, thanks for coming into the forums. I'm also a user like you and will happily help you to the best of my knowledge.

Please try to update your region in Windows settings > Time & Language > Language & Region > Country and at https://www.microsoft.com/store at the very bottom of the page, select the World icon to choose your language and region.

For the complete guide, please check at https://support.microsoft.com/topic/d594c982-8151-24b9-e25d-54c986b22f6d

If that still didn't work, you will need to wait for the subscription to end or cancel it to be able to renew in your new country. You can also reach out to Microsoft support and see if they can update it on their end.

    1. Click this link https://support.microsoft.com/contactus make sure to log in with your account and choose Microsoft 365.
    2. Choose 'Get Home Support' and type the 'Change your Microsoft payment method'.
    3. Click 'Get Help' then scroll down and select 'Contact Support'.
    4. Choose your Product & Services then Category should be Billing and Payment
    5. Click Confirm
    6. Click 'Chat with a support agent in your web browser'

I hope this helps. If you require further information, please don’t hesitate to get in contact. I will be more than happy to assist you further.

    Kind Regards, Myk
