Hello hive mind

I am using an excel spreadsheet to mail merge to send out multiple emails with personalised data including currency values.

I start by creating a word document with commentary and an empty table i insert into word from excel.

Next i start a mail merge and select a second excel spreadsheet that contains my data.

I then input the mailmerge fields which includes multiple entries into the table that i inserted into the word document.

I use a picture switch #£,0.00 to the end of the mergefields before the final >>.

But as soon as i click to review the documents it loses the picture switch and shows the numbers without the currensea or commas.

I had it working when i did it last time and i am at a loss to know why its not working this time.

I am using MS365 for Business.

Any wisdom will be gratefully received!

    I use a picture switch #£,0.00 to the end of the mergefields before the final >>.

    You cannot add the picture switch that way. To add it:

    1. Select the mergefield (e.g. «Amount») and press Shift-F9. You should now see { MERGEFIELD Amount }
    2. Add the picture switch before the closing field brace (i.e. { MERGEFIELD Amount # £,0.00 })
    3. Press F9 to refresh the field.

    If you send me a copy of the mail merge main document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

    Thanks Doug, I really appreciate that. I will mock one up to protect the personal data.
