Microsoft Lists app and using formulas

Hi

I'm using Microsoft Lists via the desktop app and I'm trying to create what I though would be a simple formula, similar to what I would do in excel but I'm facing the following error "the validation formula can refer to this column and not others"

I've only just starting Lists so I'm sure it's user error.

I have a column (Task Complete) that I mark via choices "Yes", "No" and "In progress"

I want my other column (Date Completed) to auto fill todays date when I choose "Yes"

Is this possible or am I asking too much of this app?

Thanks

    Dear Sly Dawg Mackay,

    Thank you for posting your query in our community.

    Your question is "Return Today date when "complete status" is "Yes"".

    From our test, you may try if this formula is working.

    =IF([Task Complete]="Yes",TODAY())

    Let me know if there is any further problems.

    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Sophia
