One or more Microsoft 365 Developer Program accounts associated with this phone number

Hello team!

I am facing a fairly intriguing issue.

My previous employer has identified my position as redundant and they cut all my access on the same day they informed me of that.

I have associated my personal phone number with the work account that I also used for the Microsoft Developer portal.

I am now unable to get this Microsoft Developer Program account deleted or at least the phone association removed, thus I am unable to provision any Developer M365 E5 subscriptions under my personal M365 Developer account, since I can't get my phone associated with my personal account and all I receive is the following error:

We can't continue with the signup process. You already have one or more Microsoft 365 Developer Program accounts associated with this phone number. To continue, you must delete any existing accounts.

The following email accounts are currently associated with this phone number:

A****y@q****t.c****m

To delete your Microsoft 365 Developer Program account, sign in to your dashboard with your email account and choose Delete Profile.

This action will delete your existing user profile and your Microsoft 365 developer subscription, including all data. After you complete this step, you can rejoin the program, and after 60 days you can set up a new subscription.

MS-CorrelationID: 65e04423-3361-497b-b278-ac163917bbd3

Code: 40901

What is the right way forward in this unusual scenario? Is there any chance of getting my identity verified and the phone association removed from the old work account by Microsoft team members?

Best Regards,

Adam

I'm sorry to hear that you're about the situation you are in.

To resolve this issue, you will need to first delete the existing Microsoft 365 Developer Program account that is associated with your phone number.

Unfortunately, you no longer have access to your old work email account, perhaps you may try using a different phone number if that may help.

However, if the issue continues, I will recommend is to contact the Microsoft support team via https://support.microsoft.com/contactus. They may be able to help you verify your identity and remove the phone association from the old work account.

From there, you can select the product or service that you need help with, and then follow the prompts to submit a support request.
