encrypted files cannot be opened after set up the pc new

Hello,

I had password protected word files on the pc. Uploaded them to onedrive and set up my laptop new. After that I downloaded the files from onedrive to the laptop. But now the files can neither be opened nor synchronized. on onedrive online i can open the files after entering a password.

Can you help me so that I can also open the files on the laptop.

Good day!!

As you mentioned the password protected files can be opened in the Office for the web but can’t be opened or synchronized when they are downloaded to your new PC.

First, I would like to convey that when you have downloaded the files from the OneDrive, the file will break the connection with the cloud servers so whatever changes you made in the downloaded will not by synced to the online.

So, I would like to like to suggest you sync your files in your OneDrive Online to your Windows File Explorer with the help of the OneDrive sync client.

After the successfully sync of your OneDrive, you will see the OneDrive folder on your File Explorer and suggest you open the password protected files in your folder to see whether they can be opened.
