In the message when opening Excel file, "UPLOAD FAILED We're sorry, someone updated the server copy and it's not possible to upload your changes now", why would there be someone updating my server copy while I am the owner and the only user using the file?

    Haven't tried on new file.

Sometimes I get the following 2 messages when opening the same excel file:

READ-ONLY Workbook is in read-only modes. Save As

FILE IN USE This file is locked for editing by another user. Notify When Available

Has it got anything to do with OneDrive storage? I have recently migrated to Windows 11 which defaults to using OneDrive storage which I never used in Windows 10.

Hi. Does this happen even to newly created files?

The file is stored in my hard drive document folder. It is also not in shared folder. So I wonder how someone can edit my file. Does the message mean that my file has been compromised and someone can access and edit it. This is my concern. Please advise.

    Hi. I am Leon.

Is the file you are trying to open is stored in a Shared folder or drive? If the file is stored in a shared folder or drive, other users who have access to that folder or drive will be able to open and edit the file as well. Also if it is stored in Cloud-based storage too.
