Microsoft Lists - Calculated Column - Formula doesn't work

My problem is like this: Microsoft Lists - Calculated Column - Formula doesn't work - Microsoft Community

I'm trying to work with SharePoint lists and calculated columns, or any resource that uses formulas and I'm having problems with simple situations.

I'm suspecting it has something to do with the language used.

I had to use imgur because the Microsoft portal is not accepting images, there is an error "Something went wrong".

My Columns:

A simple formula with =IF does not work, it cannot be wrong. Like image:

So, I tried using a =UPPER which is even simpler to use, like the image below.

Using UPPER as in the image above, I have a successful result, but when I return to the field, it has the formula translated into Portuguese and it is written wrong, this does not make any sense because my language in all preferences is English.

And if I try to write the formula in Portuguese =MAIÚSCULA([Título]) a syntax error is returned again.

Hi Eliezer,

If you have checked the above points, but the situation still happens, to my knowledge, there are no built-in settings that can cause this behavior. I would like to suggest you contact your admin or IT department to raise a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. That support team there has the correct channel to help you investigate more and find what exactly the reason has caused this situation.

Appreciate your understanding and patience.

Sincerely,

George | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hi Eliezer,

    Sorry for my late reply.

According to your screenshots, it seems only the formula will be translated into Portuguese. Although you mentioned all preferences are English, I would like to suggest you check the following points.

    1. Please check your personal language settings. Make sure the first language preference is English.
    2. Please use another browser to access the site, then update the formula and check again.
    3. Please contact your site owner to check the language settings of this site. Check if the default language is English or not.

    1. Please go to the Home page of this site. If you can see a language option beside the Share button, make sure it is English.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator

    Hi Eliezer,

For the formula that you want to use the IF function, please provide more details about your requirement. We can help you to build it.

The formula is just a simple example that didn't work, my idea was just to use the IF, and show something with the result. I changed the language of the sharepoint page to English and deleted the list and created a new list, apparently I'm able to use the formulas now.

But the problem described in this image (https://imgur.com/CSmR808) still persists, the formula is translated to PT-BR and removes the brackets from the applied column.

I believe it has a malfunction when the language is not English.

    Example:

If I use the formula: =IF([Status]="Draft","Is Draft","Is not Draft") - after saving the formula it is translated to =SE(Status="Draft","Is Draft","Is not Draft"). This makes it necessary to rewrite the complete formula if you want to change something.
