    Hi Joy W,

I am a Microsoft products user like you are and I will try to help.

    To print A4 to A5:

For Mac: Open the document, then File > Print > Paper Handling > Scale to Fit Paper Size > Destination Paper Size > Select 'A5' here

For Windows: Open the document, then File > Print > Paper size (drop down arrow) > Select 'A5' here

    Kind regards, Amit

Amit's advice for Windows will reformat your document to A5 size, not shrink it to fit. I've marked that post as unhelpful.

Instead, choose File>Print in Word and click on the Printer Properties link. Set the A5 paper size there, then look for an option like "Scale to fit", or an option to set a percentage of actual size. Each printer driver has different capabilities and a different setup to the printer dialog, so you'll have to do a little hunting.

If your printer doesn't have an option to scale the output, you can save to PDF, then print from Acrobat Reader, which has good controls for resizing to different paper sizes.

No need to go into printer Properties; you can do this in Word's Print dialog:
