Map on OneDrive Desktop a shared folder whose parent folder I don't have access to

Hello,

I have been shared a folder of a project (let's call it Folder 1) whose parent I don't have access to (let's call it Project 1, which contains, Folder 1, Folder 2, ...). I have also been shared the parent folder for the Project folder (let's call it Parent). The hierarchy is the following:

Parent->Project 1->Folder 1

Parent ->Project 1-> Folder 2

Parent ->Project 1->...

Parent ->Project 2 ->...

Parent ->...

I have mapped Parent folder in the OneDrive desktop app, inside which I have access to all folders but to the Project 1 folder (for which I only have the Folder 1 shared on SharePoint)

When trying to map in SharePoint Folder 1, I keep getting the message that folder is already in the shortcut to Parent folder (already mapped). I have read online that by deleting current shortcuts of that folder (Folder 1) in my OneDrive files (in Parent), the problem should be solved, but since I don't have access the folder Project 1 inside the folder Parent, but only to folder Project 1, I can't go down the hierarchy to open Project 1.

Is there any solution for this? Am I missing anything?

    Hello Sophia, thanks for your reply.

    Sorry, the first question I do not understand what you mean

    I have the shortcut to the Parent folder added to the My Files section in the OneDrive website, so I can access it through my Desktop.

    Please, find the screenshot attached below. This happens to me in Sharepoint when trying to add a shortcut to Folder 1 in Onedrive

    Hi FdL,

    Thank you for posting this question in Microsoft Community.

    I go through the post carefully, I am sorry for the inconvenience the issue causes, to better understand your situation, could you provide the information below?

    1. May I know if you are using OneDrive sync client to sync parent folder?
    2. Could you provide the screenshot of error message?
    3. May I know if you have added parent folder as shortcut?

    If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, you can also post back and point that.

    Best Regards,
