Problems with 'Find/ Replace'

I am trying to use the "Find/ Replace" tool, but keep getting an error message telling me excel can't either find the match or "We couldn't find anything to replace. Click options for more ways to search. FYI: Its possible the data you're trying to replace is in a protected sheet. Excel can't replace data in protected sheets." However, the sheet is not protected and using Options doesn't work. Does anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Hi RLVonne. I am an Excel user like you.

The solution is probably in the options in the Find/Replace window. When you click on Options it opens up additional choices for how to search. Make sure that:

    1. You are searching on this sheet.
    2. You are searching by rows.
    3. IMPORTANT: If the data is the result of a formula that you have selected values.
    4. That the Match Case and Match contents boxes are not checked unless that is what you want.
    5. That the format option says No Format Set. If it says anything else, use the Format dropdown to the right and click on "Clear Find Format".
