How to use "show formulas" for really long formulas

"Show formulas" feature in excel will, to some extent, temporarily expand columns to show the entirety of the formula. However, this does not work for really really long formulas. Really long formulas wont show past the column width. Is there a way to use this feature but expand to the entire length of the formula, even for long formulas.

Select that column and set autofit Column Width.

This doesn't work. As evidenced by your screen shot, I'm guessing you used value to test this and the column is autofitting to that value. Try entering a very long formula that results in a 3-character result. Show formulas does not expand to the width of a very long formula, even if you autofit column width. I suspect that feature is autofitting to the formula value, not the formula itself.

You can see it on the Formula Bar by resizing the bar:

The bar can be enlarged much more, but this is a real formula I wanted to use for this example. To change the Formula Bar's height do one of the following:

    1. Place the mouse over the bottom edge of the Formula Bar and when you have a two-headed vertical arrow drag down.
    2. Click the Expand Formula Bar button which is at the far right of the Bar.
