Hi, I've been using Word on my MacBook Pro for years but have just had an activate office message, why has this happened? I thought I had a lifetime subscription or something because I've used it for so long with no issues.

To determine the Office subscription license type, open an Office app (such as PowerPoint), select the name of the app in the menu, and then About (app).

    Select PowerPoint from the menu.

The license type will be listed below the Product ID.

My MacBook Pro is a mid 2015 and I think office was transferred on here from my previous MacBook Pro... I've had access to Word for about 20yrs... (and Excel and PowerPoint) I can't remember how I got it, I think a friend set it up way back then? Not sure if there's a way to find out, just seems odd it's suddenly not working.

Thanks, that link wouldn't open the Mac tab though? I checked in About Word and it says Version 15.28 (161115)

If you have Microsoft 365, you subscription may have run out. If you have Office 2016, 2019 or 2021, you may have a pirated copy with an invalid product key. Do you remember where you got your copy of Office? Was it amazingly cheap compared to the standard retail price?
