How do I limit what items are synchronized using Exchange protocol?

I am using M365 email accounts in Windows Outlook app. How do I restrict Outlook to synchronize nothing except Email & contacts ONLY?

There are explicit reasons I want IMAP instead of full Exchange sync; however, someone feels we have to do it the gregarious left-handed while hanging upside-down during a polka-dotted crescent moon method because that's how Google does it.

The Exchange sync process needs to be far more granular and controllable instead the all or nothing dictator method.

So? Again, how do I restrict Outlook's exchange process to synchronize Email & Contacts ONLY? Nothing else.

Thank you.

Note - Unsubscribing all folders except email and contacts only works until an update is applied that always forces the resubscription of every folder. Be there, tried that. This has been a known issue since Outlook 2013.

I have this same question. I don't want, nor need, a huge single data dump sync process. I want the IMAP email sync only, which will no longer be supported beginning June 5th.

So basically you have to download the entire account data file every time you open outlook each time, how is this advantageous? Now do this for five accounts in the same Outlook profile on a dialup connection. I do not see the benefits of supposed increase in security when compared to the exponential consumption of metered bandwidth.

    Just a thought.

An Ex mail account syncs all. All content is contained within the singe data file.(IMAP syncs mail only)
