Hi,

Can someone help with what I need to do to place a picture in a cell,

  1. On the Inserttab click Pictures.
  2. Click Place in Cell.
  3. Select one of the following sources from the Insert Picture From dropdown menu:
  • But I don't have the place in cell option, I'm using 365,

What do I need to do? I thought if might need to be added but can't see anything listed in the customize ribbon with that name.

Richard.

Tried =IMAGE("file:///C:/Users/.../scrag.png") and it didn't work. The link worked on Edge, but not in Excel.

Disappointed the feature is in the web version but hasn't made the Excel 365 version 2309.

    Hi Richard

I'm AnnaThomas and I'd happily help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

The “Place in Cell” option for inserting pictures into cells is not available in Excel 365 but Excel for the web.

    https://support.microsoft.com/office/e9317aee-4294-49a3-875c-9dd95845bab0

However, you can still insert a picture into a cell by using the IMAGE function. Here’s how you can do it:

Go to the cell where you want to insert the picture. Type =IMAGE( in the cell. Enter the URL of the image you want to insert, enclosed in quotation marks. Close the parenthesis and press Enter.

    Example; =IMAGE("https://www.example.com/image.jpg")

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    AnnaThomas
