Hi

Using Windows 365, with Word version 2211 (which says it's up to date)

Have random lines within a Word document.

I see this question has been asked before but answers are back to 2016.

And I have tried those suggestions with no luck.

Can not click on the line.

Have tired highlighting the paragraph below, above and a total of 3 paragraphs that includes the line and then on ribbon use Paragraph / Borders / None

Have tried in View / Views / Draft, yet line does not show in that mode.

Anyone able to assist with this.

The fact that the line is not displayed in Draft mode suggests that it is a drawing object. There are two possible reasons you can't select it.

    1. It may be Behind Text. If that's the case, you should be able to use the Select Objects tool (Home | Editing | Select), which allows you to select objects without touching text.
    2. It may be in the Header/Footer story. Activate the header (by double-clicking in the header area). Can you now select and delete the line?

    Hi,

I'm Sneha and I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

One possibility is that the line is actually a part of the document's formatting, and not a manually-inserted line. For example, it could be a border around a paragraph or a horizontal line separating sections of the document. In this case, you would need to modify the formatting of the document to remove the line.

Also it could be that the line is actually an image or other type of object that has been inserted into the document. In this case, you would need to locate and delete the object in order to remove the line from the document.

If nothing works it can be issue with document best way will be create New file and copy content with Selecting All in one go copy paragraph by paragraph or if you're copying by Select All and Paste, Paste it as plain text.

If you have any other questions or need assistance with anything, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help to the best of my ability.

    HI

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I still have not been able to get rid of the random line/s.

I haven't been able to locate any object in the document and relooked at the formatting, which seemed okay.

I did attempt a Copy All and paste into new document but there actually seemed to be more lines then (so maybe formatting.?) This was not a new document but one previously used and updated.

It's a 22 page document, with lots of paragraphs so hesitant of copying one by one.

Thank you so much for this guidance.

Using suggestion 1, I was able to locate the object: right click, Cut, then Accept Deletion.
