Excel Find and Replace Alt Shortcut Changes

I recently noticed that the Find and Replace window had changed the alt shortcuts such that now hitting Alt + N triggers the Next button on the window. Previously, it would trigger the Find what: button. What is the new alt shortcut for the Find what: button? Both actions have the letter N underlined so it's a bit confusing to tell.

For context, my version of Excel is: Microsoft® Excel® for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2304 Build 16.0.16327.20200) 32-bit

    Hello Jason,

I'm Ibhadighi and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

In the version of Excel you are using, the Alt + N shortcut is indeed assigned to the “Next” button in the Find and Replace window. To access the “Find what” field using the keyboard, you can press the Alt + F key combination. This will move the focus to the “Find what” field, allowing you to type in your search criteria.

    Best Regards, IBHADIGHI

I was also curious about this stupid change and was searching! I use the replace operation a lot in my work on documents. At this time, the shortcut key Alt+N was unconditionally and often used to quickly switch the cursor to the content to be found. But now, the 'next' button is pressed together, so if there is no content to be found, a pop-up is also displayed once.

Why did you become so stupid?

Why did you create two or more shortcuts with the same key combination in one window?

Came here to chime in with complaints - except, not for Alt+N, but for Alt+P.

They did the exact same thing to Alt+P. There are two items in this window that use that shortcut. It used to switch you to the 'Replace' tab but now it keys to the 'Previous' button.

    Extremely annoying.
