Microsoft SharePoint Date Column issues

Hello,

I have created a few SharePoint lists, and the first one I created the date column automatically populated a days old column. It also translated over to Power Bi very easily to report out quarters, months, years etc.

In the most recent SharePoint lists I have created the date column did not automatically populate a days old column and is not providing the same date breakdown in Power Bi. I do have date and time selected as the column setting.

Is there an option I need to select in SharePoint to make that possible?

Thank you.

    Hi Shelby,

    Thanks for posting back.

Please use the following formula in Column Validation in other columns.

    =[column name]<=TODAY()

Example: If your column is called "Report date", it should be [Report date] in the formula.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

You're putting that in the validation field. Shouldn't it be a calculation for which you may have to use a calculated field? Or check "calc value" and enter the formula there? Maybe check the column type in a site where it's working.

    Hi George,

Thank you for providing a quick response! There is a formula in the SharePoint I have that currently works well, and I want the same settings in the other Sharepoints I have created however I can't copy and paste that formula into the other ones without a syntax error.

The SharePoint examples I want to emmulate in other SharePoints:

    Columns:

    Date reported column settings:

    Thank you,

    Shelby

    Hi Shelby,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

For "the date column automatically populated a days old column", I assume you mean the date column will populate the value in another column. If my understanding conflicts with your meaning, please point it out and provide more details (like screenshots) for us to better understand.

If so, the 'date column' might be a lookup column or a calculated column. You can check the column type of the date column that works well. Go to the list> Settings> List settings, under the Columns section. If the 'date column' is indeed a lookup column or a calculated column, you can rebuild your date column. Also, please check if the referenced date column is enabled "Date and time".

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
