Hi,
I'm Sneha and I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
When you select cells in a column and then click "Merge Cells" in Microsoft Word, the cells in the next column increase in height. To prevent this from happening, you can adjust the row height manually after merging the cells.
Please follow these steps to adjust the row height manually:
- Select the merged cell(s) whose row height you want to adjust.
- Right-click on the selected cell(s) and choose "Table Properties" from the context menu.
- In the Table Properties dialog box, go to the "Row" tab.
- Uncheck the "Specify height" checkbox if it is checked.
- Click on the "Options" button.
- In the Row Height Is dialog box, select "Exactly" and enter a value for the row height that you want to set.
- Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
Alternatively, you can also try adjusting column width or text wrapping options to fit your content within a single cell instead of merging cells.
Note :- if you have multiple rows with merged cells, you will need to repeat these steps for each row individually
