Can I utilise an Azure VPS to host a connection for emulated gameplay?

I have a few old games I want to move to a virtual environment. How easy (and costly) would it be to create a VM or VPS to host a connection for emulated gameplay?

    Hi @Szabina

It really depends the VM you are going to use. You will find VMs starting at ~20$ / month to few thousands $ / month.

In terms of performance it will really depends the game, your internet connection, how far or close you are to An Azure Datacenter and many other thing. I would recommend you to try it.

    Few things to remember:

    • You will only pay the VM when it runs so remember to turn it off when not using it (do it from the Azure portal and not from the VM itself otherwise you will continue to pay because the VM won't be deallocated).
    • You can change the VM size at any time without the need to migrate anything.
    • You will always pay for the storage since it's being used in the Datacenter.

You can make your own config on the Azure Calculator by searching for Virtual Machine:

    Most importantly have fun :-)
