I'm facing an issue while attempting to enable Microsoft Teams Security Preview using PowerShell. When I run the command:

PS C:\Windows\system32> Set-TeamsSecurityPreview -Enable $true

I encountered the following error:

Set-TeamsSecurityPreview : The term 'Set-TeamsSecurityPreview' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function,
script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again.

+ Set-TeamsSecurityPreview -Enable $true
+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
+ CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (Set-TeamsSecurityPreview:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException

I've ensured I'm running the command as an administrator and installed the required modules and dependencies, but I still can't resolve this issue.

    Hi Leonardo_Y,

I understand the need to direct my query to someone with the right expertise; however, this situation is quite urgent. We have clients relying on us to provide services that hinge on the functionality of our Microsoft 365 Enterprise E5 license. Any delays could significantly impact our client relations and service delivery commitments.
Could you please ensure that this escalation is treated with the highest priority? We would greatly appreciate expedited support to resolve this matter quickly.

Looking forward to the prompt support from the next moderator.

    Best regards,

    Hassan Anwar

    Hi Hassan,

I appreciate the time and effort you spent on replying to my message.

Due to the nature of your license (Microsoft 365 Enterprise E5), I will be moving the category from Unknown to the Business category for you to be assisted by the support expert for this type of products. I mainly support consumer products so this type of issue is already out of my expertise.

You don't need to do anything, the next support moderator will continue answering this thread for you.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y

    Hi Leonardo_Y,

We use a business account with Microsoft 365 Enterprise E5, and our subscription includes Defender 365 Plan 2. We've confirmed that all required dependencies are installed, and we have also updated our MS Teams to the latest version, exercising admin rights throughout the process.

Despite these measures, we still encounter the same error when enabling the Microsoft Teams Security Preview in Defender 365.

The Set-TeamsSecurityPreview cmdlet is not recognized by PowerShell, despite our efforts. Given that we've already installed the latest Microsoft Teams PowerShell module and checked permissions, could there be another underlying issue that we're missing?

    Best regards,

    Hassan

    Hi Hassan,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community

Based on your description, it looks like you encountered an error enabling While Enabling Microsoft Teams Security Preview In Defender 365. Let's work on this together in finding the best possible solution to this issue.

To better understand the situation, I would like to ask some questions, such as:

It seems that the Set-TeamsSecurityPreview cmdlet is not recognized by PowerShell. This could be due to a missing module or dependency. To resolve this issue, please ensure that you have installed the latest version of the Microsoft Teams PowerShell module. You can install it by running the following command in PowerShell:

    Install-Module -Name MicrosoftTeams

Once the module is installed, try running the Set-TeamsSecurityPreview cmdlet again. If the issue persists, please ensure that you have the necessary permissions to run the cmdlet and that you are running PowerShell as an administrator.

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y
