Hello,

We are running SQL Server 2019 Production systems of DB sizes ranging from 3TB to 16TB and still growing on Physical hosts. These system serve very intensive/high load applications like BW,ERP..

There is a planning to migrate these systems from physical to Virtual (VMWare).. need to know if there are any restrictions or recommendation in running such huge system on Virtual.

Please help.

    Hi @Biltz ,

Migrate an existing environment, collect a performance baseline to determine your SQL Server on Azure VM requirements.

Suggest you reading below MS document , it provides a quick checklist as a series of best practices and guidelines to optimize performance of your SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines (VMs). It will help you a lot for the migration. Such as that It has a checklist of best practices for SQL Server configuration settings when running your SQL Server instances in an Azure virtual machine in production.
