OneDrive Shared Folder Issue

Windows 10/11. A colleague shared a Personal OneDrive folder with subfolders with me. I added a shortcut for one of the subfolders to File Explorer. Now I need to add a shortcut for the parent Folder to File Explorer, but get a message "This folder is either already inside another shortcut or contains a folder that you've already created a shortcut to." So it appears that because I already have a subfolder shortcut, OneDrive will not permit the parent folder to have a shortcut. I have researched but cannot find a solution.

    Hi Glen Katz

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft support.

I understand that you are experiencing an issue with adding a shortcut for the parent folder of a OneDrive shared folder. I can definitely help you with that.

The message you are receiving indicates that there is already a shortcut for a subfolder of the shared folder in your File Explorer. OneDrive does not allow multiple shortcuts to the same folder or to a folder that is already inside another shortcut.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Remove the existing shortcut for the subfolder from your File Explorer.
    2. Add a shortcut for the parent folder to your File Explorer.
    3. If you still need a shortcut for the subfolder, create a new subfolder within the parent folder and add a shortcut for that new subfolder to your File Explorer.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know. I am here to assist you.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB
