This error message usually occurs when Excel is unable to establish a connection with the external data source. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check the data source: Ensure that the external data source is available and accessible. If the data source is a file, ensure that it is not open in another program.
    2. Check the credentials: Ensure that you have the correct credentials to access the external data source. If you are using Windows Authentication, ensure that you are logged in with the correct credentials.
    3. Check the firewall settings: Ensure that the firewall settings are not blocking the connection to the external data source.
    4. Test on another machine: Ensure if it is caused by data source side.
