    Hello Samfj,

I’m Gunasekar and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you.

I understand that you are having trouble inserting the Text box on a Microsoft Word document. This can happen when the text box is not properly aligned with the cursor. You can try to adjust the alignment of the text box by clicking on it and dragging it to the desired location.

    1. Could you please provide us with a full screenshot of the Word page for our reference? Please click on Use rich formatting to insert a screenshot and select the Insert Image icon.

I tried adding a text box on my end in a Word document that is running Home and Student 2021; it entered flawlessly with a few minor tweaks made to place the text box correctly.

It also mentions "To Place this text box anywhere on the page, just drag it". So, you can drag and adjust the Text box anywhere you like. This is how it looks on my end (image 1)

Thank you for your input. Let me just clarify my situation. It is not about alignment. It is about the cursor not being in the box and apart 2 to 3 lines. If I move the box the cursor also moves the same distance.

My first thought is that this is somehow related to formatting (of the text), but it is difficult to tell for certain without more information.

Please upload a screen shot which illustrates what you see.

It would be even more helpful if you could share a sample document with the forum. Upload your sample to (say) OneDrive or Dropbox and post a share link in this thread.
