My cursor is currently like what the photo attached is. I want it back to it's normal state. Please help, thank you. Also what is it and how did I get it to that state?

You seem to be disturbed by the paragraph mark, which just shows that you are viewing nonprinting characters, also called formatting marks. See http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/NonprintChars.htm

You can toggle the display with Ctrl+* or using the Show/Hide ¶ button in the Paragraph group on the Home tab of the Ribbon.

The vertical line is the standard insertion point.

The pilcrow character ¶ is not the cursor, but the end-of-paragraph marker. It is normally not displayed, but you can toggle this and other non-printing characters by pressing Ctrl+Shift+8 or by clicking the ¶ button on the Home tab of the ribbon.
