Hello.

I'm currently subscribed to Office 365 Family for four user.

I want to subscribe or "upgrade" only 1 user, myself, to office 365 business.

Am I able to migrate my account, emails, files etc to a n office 365 Business subscription while keeping my wife and kids emails files etc in the 365 Family subscription?

I hope this makes some sense...

Thanks in Advance

Adam

Hello Adam D,

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I am a Microsoft user just like you, I hope you are doing well.

No, you cannot upgrade your Family subscription to Microsoft 365 Business but you can switch to a business subscription. Understand that business accounts are different from personal accounts.

This article will take you through when and how to move from your Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Personal subscription to a Microsoft 365 for business subscription.

Here are few steps to take to switch to Microsoft 365 for business:

Step 1: Decide which subscription you want

Step 2: Set up your Microsoft 365 for business subscription

Step 3: Migrate Outlook information to new Microsoft 365 for business email account

Step 4: Migrate OneDrive files to OneDrive for Business

Step 5 Migrate OneNote files

Step 6: Do you need both a business plan and a personal plan?

If you are the owner of the Family subscription, you will need to cancel your Family subscription and let a member of the Family subscription purchase the Family subscription and add the remaining member of your Family subscription.

If you cancel your subscription, OneDrive as well as other Office apps will enter read-only mode. This mode allows you to view and download your files but you cannot upload to OneDrive.

Your files will remain available, thanks to OneDrive retention period. Once you have started your new subscription or joined another subscription, OneDrive and Office apps will regain full functionality.

Please let me know if you need more assistance.

You cannot "upgrade/convert" an O365 Personal/family account to an O365 bus account as the two account types are fundementally different.

To have multiple users on a O365 bus account, each with their own private data you need multiple user licences
