I wonder if those who made the decision to take away Never combine realize just how much time removing this feature cost users?
If you want to do computer work at the same level of proficiency as Stephen Curry plays basketball, then that requires understanding the notion of Flow State.
Having to locate a small icon, hover your mouse, then try to discern which one of multiple similar looking items to choose, compared to glancing down and simply picking on the exact item you can see and need, is the difference between being in flow state and not.
Making matters worse, forcing everyone to put their taskbar at the bottom of the screen is another example of Microsoft making users less proficient. On monitors running at 16:9 aspect ratio it makes the most sense to put the taskbar on either side and not the bottom. This is even more true when running large displays because you have more screen real-estate to give up horizontally than vertically. Also with the taskbar on either side you can make it slightly wider which gives you a better glimpse for what any given open task, (never hidden) is.
