Cannot save Microsoft 365 files on computer, only in cloud.

I am recently unable to save any Microsoft 365 files to my Mac computer. When I save them they are in Excel for example, but when I search my finder, the files don't show up. On another computer with the same icloud and Microsoft, I'm able to save them to either the Microsoft cloud and/or my Mac, so it's strange that it won't allow me to on this computer.

I have deleted and reinstalled, updated computer, command s, manually saved, etc. I've tried everything I know how to yet still facing this issue.

Make sure your edition of macOS is fully updated then update Office... Version 16.78 was just published. After updating sign out of your Office account then restart the Mac. Launch Excel then sign in & see whether the On My Mac option has been restored.

Have you restarted the Mac since installing the update?

What type of License is indicated in Excel> About Microsoft Excel?

Have you tried going to File> Open Recent - More to see if they are listed?

Yes, Mac has been restarted multiple times. Using Excel version 16.77.1, License Microsoft 365 Subscription. I have tried filing in different places, but the only option it allows me to choose is OneDrive, I no longer have the option of say, my Desktop on my computer which I have the option for on my other computer signed in the exact same way.

I do have that version, yet I'm still only able to save in OneDrive for some reason. This has made locating files on my computer increasingly difficult.

You most probably need to update your Office software. Version 16.77.1 is the current build. The On My Mac button was omitted in a previous update but has since been corrected.

It sounds like your files are being saved on OneDrive [the Microsoft cloud] rather than iCloud [the Apple cloud]. That's actually a good thing because iCloud doesn't adequately support editing of Mac Office documents.
