Microsoft 365 shared groups - syncing delays between computers

I work in an office where my students and I use the same shared Microsoft 365 Group folder in One Drive for all of our clients files. This works okay when we're all in different client files, but sometimes I drop a file in a folder for them (e.g. photo) to use in their design. This is when it sometimes takes up to an hour for the file to show up on their computer. How can this delay be fixed? OR is there some way for them to select the folder and tell it to sync?

    Dear Kaylene1011nv,

    Thanks for posting back.

We'd recommend you do this for test on one issued device to check the outcome.

Meanwhile, considering that issue happens on different devices, we'd recommend you contact Online Support to check if there's anything can be fixed from backend service. Otherwise, we're afraid that we'll need to do troubleshoot for each device separately.

    Best Regards,

    Rhoda

Do we have to choose “always keep on device” on each computer?

    Dear Kaylene1011,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, it seems that users in the M365 shared groups are encountering delay in OneDrive sync between computers.

If the understanding above is right, generally, OneDrive will sync the updates in the synced folder once changes are detected. The syncing delay you are experiencing could be due to a few reasons, such as slow internet connection, backend services and etc.

Given this, if File on Demand is enabled in OneDrive sync, we'd recommend you select the folder and right click to "Always keep on device" to check the outcome. Please also check if changing to another network can help.

If issue still persists, considering that issue happens with different users, more resources need to be involved in to investigate further.

We notice that you post this question in For education category, we suppose you may have a Microsoft 365 account with Education Subscription. If so, we recommend you contact your Microsoft 365 administrator, follow steps in this article to raise a support ticket, contact Microsoft related team. The support team has higher permission than us, this would be the most efficient way to handle this case for you. For reference: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

If our understanding of the scenario is not consistent with yours, feel free to point it out.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding! Hope you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,
