Hyperlink not working in IF statement

I have an excel doc I am using as the data for a mail merge (to emails) in Word. I am trying to insert a hyperlink in the email merge if a specific cell in a row in Excel is not blank.

Example if A2 is not blank, then insert hyperlink. If it is blank, insert nothing.

I can get it to insert the display text if the cell is not blank, however, the link is not working - meaning it doesn't show up as a hyperlink.

{ IF { MERGEFIELD FIELD_NAME}<> "" "{HYPERLINK "websiteaddressgoeshere"} " ""}

Any ideas?

    Dear respected C Tuckey,

    Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

    I’m sorry you’re having a problem but based on your description we can work together to resolve it.

    For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

    As per your description, based on my test, it seems that I also meet the same behaviour as like you described above. The hyperlink only shows the text, and it not formatted to look like a hyperlink.

    .

    If possible, I request you, please allow me some time and I investigate and updates you here ASAP.

    Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad
