Reduce size of new Excel toolbar

Question

In the new build for Excel the bar above the ribbon (the green one in the image) is huge... is there any setting or plugin to minimize or shrink the size of this bar. And to also remove the padding around the ribbon?

It feels unnecessary to use this much screen real-estate, especially in Excel where I'll be focusing the bulk of my time on the actual spreadsheet.

Because it is mostly empty and the tabs are below it... isn't there a way to put the tabs selectors in that green bar and score an extra few rows?
