Must Data be In Table Format? Table Does Not Work

Hello there, getting 3d maps to work is more off than on.

I have been able to create maps without converting data to a table. I was sent some data in table format and 'add selected data' etc is greyed out. I converted the data back to normal format, and it is not possible to create a map at all. Just get '3d maps needs data to work with. Select data....'etc which I've done, clicked 'refresh data' and nothing. I have also cleared all previous data connections which has made no difference. I would be really grateful for some help. I'm trying the map function in power bi but it's prooving a bit of a battle. Thanks very much

Apologies for taking up your time. I just shut everything down, deleted all the previous copies and started again. It's now working, no table required - I realise one of the very 1st things MS guidance states that you must convert data to a table. That has never worked for me so I just went with the normal/untabled data. So far so good. Thanks for your reply all the same.

Thanks, I've tried both - same result, either 'needs to data to work with' or 'encountered an error please try again'. The add selected data, on one occasion wasn't greyed out so I selected my range (in a table) but got the same error. I've watched dozens of tutorials and just can't fathom why the vast majority of the time, it just doesn't work - most likely the user, but I don't get it.

In order to use the 3D Maps feature, your data needs to be in a table format.
