How To Pull Data From Folder Without Access With Power Query

Hi,

I want to structure a power query connection from an excel file (A) to another one (B). On the other hand since there are sensitive data in excel file A, users of excel file B shouldn't have direct access to the file A. When access right of users is removed, power query doesn't work. Is there a way to get the relevant data without giving full access of the file?

    Dear Mert Demirhan,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We are delighted to offer our assistance.

    1. In Excel, go to the Data tab and select "From Other Sources" > "From Folder".
    2. In the "From Folder" dialog box, browse to the folder where the file is stored and click "OK".
    3. Power Query will display a list of all the files in the folder. Select the file you want to import and click "Edit".
    4. In the Power Query Editor, you can select the specific data you want to import and apply any transformations you need.
    5. Once you have finished editing the query, click "Close & Load" to import the data into your Excel file.

By using this method, users of Excel file B will not have direct access to Excel file A, but they will still be able to access the relevant data through the Power Query connection.

    Have a great day.

    Sincerely,
