#Name error on stock data, cannot refresh

Excel recognizes the stocks inputted into the table but no data is being pulled. Worked perfectly 2 weeks ago and now all data columns are displaying #NAME instead of the correct data. I have not changed any formulas, they are all created via stock data table and have not been altered.

Well, it's possible that the issue is related to the specific formulas or functions used in your data table.

One possible solution is to check the formulas or functions used in your data table to make sure they are entered correctly and are referencing the correct cells or named ranges. You can also try using the Formula Wizard in Excel to help you enter formulas correctly and avoid errors.

If nothing changes, you may want to try recreating the data table from scratch to see if that resolves the issue. Alternatively, you could try using a different method to import stock data into Excel, such as using a web query or a third-party add-in, and see if that forces any changes.

    Hi J.S.

I've noticed that the stocks feature is a bit quirky. Sometimes just waiting fixes it.

Did you try restarting your Mac?

Some time has passed since you posted your question. Has the problem rectified itself?

Hi Adeyemi, thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately none of the above has resolved the issue.

Excel is up to date, the data has been refreshed, and the data source is available. Clicking the symbol to the left of the stock column cells indicates all data is available and shows the data I am looking for, yet that information does not translate into the data table columns (which still display #NAME?).

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the stock data in Excel. The #NAME? error typically occurs when Excel doesn't recognize text in a formula. This can happen for several reasons, such as a misspelled function name, an incorrect range reference, or text values without quotation marks as stated here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/how-to-correct-a-name-error-b6d54e31-a743-4d7d-9b61-40002a7b4286.

However, since you mentioned that the formulas were created via the stock data table and have not been altered, it's possible that the issue is related to the data source or the connection to it. Here are some potential solutions that you can try:

    1. Check for updates: Make sure that you have the latest version of Excel installed on your computer.
    2. Refresh the data* Try refreshing the data by right-clicking on the table and selecting "Refresh" or by going to the "Data" tab and clicking on "Refresh All".
    3. Check the data source: Make sure that the data source for the stock data is still available and that there are no issues with the connection.
