Cursor Offset in OneNote Textbox

I use OneNote every day to take notes, either with a Wacom Intuos S graphics tablet or by writing directly in text boxes. I load slides using the Printout feature (one per page) using a OneNote Tabloid template so I can annotate around the slide.

From the very beginning, regardless of whether the graphics tablet is present or not, there is an offset between the cursor's position on the screen and where the click actually occurs. This issue arises when I switch from one page to another, and it only happens with the cursor when I interact with text boxes.

I tried to solve the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling Office, but the issue persists. I am not using a second monitor (as other users have reported in other threads).

I've noticed that the issue is related to the page zoom. Every time the problem occurs, if I adjust the page zoom (zoom out and then zoom back to 100%), the issue disappears. As soon as I change the page and try to create a new text box, the blinking cursor indicating a new text box is offset to the bottom right of the cursor.

Although OneNote is the best alternative for writing with a graphics tablet and taking notes on slides on Windows PC, I find this bug really annoying, which significantly worsens the experience and tempts me to install competing software.

    Thanks Adeyemi,

unfortunately I have no external monitor connected and no graphic tablet connected too. But the problem persists. I have already read all the reference material that you suggest but it didn't work for me.

Since OneNote is part of the Microsoft 365 I don't think I'm able to uninstall OneNote specifically. And the bug is still present even after a fresh brand new installation.

Probably I need to wait for an update of Microsoft OneNote or Windows. Since than, thanks again for the reply, I will wait.

    Regards

    Lorenzo

    Hello

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a cursor offset issue in OneNote. This issue could be due to several reasons:

    1. Zoom Level: As you've noticed, the issue seems to be related to the zoom level of the page. Adjusting the zoom level (zooming out and then zooming back in to 100%) seems to temporarily resolve the issue.
    2. Graphics Tablet: Some users have reported similar issues when using a graphics tablet. If possible, try disconnecting the tablet and see if the issue persists
    3. Second Monitor: Although you mentioned that you're not using a second monitor, this issue has been reported by users who are. If you have a second monitor connected, even if it's not in use, try disconnecting it and see if that resolves the issue
    4. Reinstall OneNote: You mentioned that you've already tried reinstalling Office, but the issue persists. It might be worth trying to uninstall and reinstall OneNote specifically, rather than the entire Office suite
    5. Update OneNote and Windows: Make sure both OneNote and Windows are updated to the latest version. Sometimes, these kinds of issues can be resolved with software updates
