Errors when opening Microsoft programs

Question

I get the following notification when I open any Microsoft program: "We're sorry, but (program name) has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. (Program) will need to close as a result. Would you like us to repair now?" I click repair and still get the same message after I reopen the program. What needs to be done?

Have you tried repairing Office online? If you haven't, use steps below for guidance:

1. Right-click the Start button (lower-left corner), and select Apps and Features on the pop-up menu.
2. Select the Microsoft Office product you want to repair, and select Modify.
3. In the window How would you like to repair your Office Programs, select Online Repair > Repair to make sure everything gets fixed.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the repair.
