something went wrong

My desktop had an error today with ACER app and then it seemed to start uploading updates.

I have lost all my photos and documents as each time i restart it tells me that it has opened a temporary account.

it then shows an error message of 0x426-0x0

I am going around in circles

I have uninstalled Microsoft office and installed again

It has now said it has fived my C drive but then goes back to telling me that it opens on a temporary account - so i sign out and sign into my microsoft account. then it just starts again telling me that i am on a temporary account

"we cant sign you in to your account" This problem can often be fixed by signing out of your account, then signing back in. If you don't sign out now , any files that you create or changes that you make will be lost.

I get this every time i try something and i am near tears trying to get my photos back

Just to report in that we eventually managed to sort this and find all my folders and photos! I’m so relieved!

One thing we managed to find at the e we No was an area that we had to put a ( .old. ) at the end ! Don’t ask me how or where! But it solved Microsoft keep telling me that my account t was temporary!

So thank you for your help.

    Hello Linda,

Thank you for reaching out to this forum. As a fellow Microsoft user, I'm here and ready to help you out today.

I understand your concern as there are issues with Office apps and the photos and documents were missing. Could you please let us know if you have Office 365 subscription?

Also as the documents were missing, could you please let us know if you're using OneDrive?

Based on the error code "0x426-0x0", most of the solution were directed to Office reinstallation. So, could you please try below workarounds for clean installation.

    1. Close all Office applications.
    2. Sign-out of your Office account.
    3. Do a safe reboot. You can start Safe Mode using the F8 key during start up.
    4. For clean install, please use SetupProd_OffScrub.exe tool to uninstall everything. Instructions can be found here - https://support.microsoft.com/office/9ad57b43-fa12-859a-9cf0-b694637b3b05
    5. Remove the credential details of the personal account from "Credential manager". Go to: Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager

Now follow below steps for installing office.

    1. Go to www.office.com and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in.
    2. Sign in with the account you associated with this version of Office. This account can be a Microsoft account, or work or school account. If you're not sure about the login, please try to reset. https://support.microsoft.com/office/eba0b4a2-c0ae-472c-99f6-bc63ee2425a8
    3. After signing in, follow the steps that match the type of account you signed in with.

From the Office home page select Install Office.

Select Install (or depending on your version, Install Office>).

    4. This completes the download of Office to your device. To complete the installation, follow the prompts in the "Install Office" section below.

Please find the details in below link if you need further info. https://support.microsoft.com/office/4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658

If you have used OneDrive to upload pictures, please try below steps to reset OneDrive and access your files uploaded into cloud.

    1. Go to Control Panel>User Accounts>credential manager>Windows Credentials, check if there’s any “OneDrive” credentials, if so, remove the credentials.
    2. Right click the OneDrive icon > Settings > Account > Unlink this PC > Unlink this account
    3. On the Windows’ task bar, Click the Window icon to bring up the Start Menu or type it in the search field “OneDrive.”
    4. Click on the Windows icon to open the start menu.
    5. After opening the start menu, type “OneDrive” into the search box. Click on OneDrive to open it. It will then ask you to sign in.
    6. To sync the OneDrive changes, please run the "Onedrive.exe /reset" command in run.

Now try to access the files and picture. If you still have issues, kindly let us know the details

Hope this information would be useful to you. Please feel free to get back if you need any additional info.
