Yea, the forwarding is processed really before the mailbox takes "ownership" of it so its not the same as a logged in user forwarding it manually.

I have a shared mailbox that receives mail from external users. There is a forward set up on this mailbox to keep a copy and forward on to a distribution group that only accepts mail from internal senders. The shared mailbox is receiving mail but we are receiving a bounceback message from the distribution group. I thought forwarding from the shared mailbox within the organisation would be considered as internal sender but is that the case? Is it still considered as coming from an external sender? The bounceback message does state it only accepts mail from internal senders.
