We are using a shared Excel document with multiple users, and we want to remove one user from the list. However, we are encountering an issue because the option to "remove user" is not available. We only see options for "read" and "edit" access.

    Dear respected Mohamed Taarji,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, firstly may I know are you shared your Excel file from OneDrive for business/SharePoint online document library? does the user appear under the “Direct Access”? if yes, then you may stop via Remove direct access.

In a sharing UI, we can only stop sharing/ remove specific user under a “Direct Access” (if we share file via +Grant access).

We feel your pain due to this limitation and we’re really feel sorry for it. However, we appreciate your understanding.  I do understand the inconvenience and apologize for it.

    .

Since you mentioned, "We only see options for "read" and "edit" access" I suspect you shared Excel file via a share button and not give +Grant access, that why you did not see remove option. In this scenario, I'm afraid you may stop sharing for all existing shared users and then share file again via "+Grant access" button.

Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I shared Excel file via a share button, so that's why I do not see remove option. I'll stop sharing for all existing shared users and then share file again via "+Grant access" button.

    Thanks,

    Mohamed
