How do I get back OneNote panning by holding down Spacebar and dragging with mouse?

I have never used the panning hand option under the Draw ribbon. I used to be able to move around in OneNote by holding down the Spacebar and drag with my mouse. Now, it does not let me , instead it will start adding spaces as text in the document. I also notice that my cursor is always on the Ibeam cursor on default, and no longer the arrow cursor. May I know what changes that my brother had made when he was using it and how to get it back?

Hi Moonie, Welcome to the Microsoft Community. I am a Microsoft user just like you, and I hope you are well.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.

To get back the panning hand option in OneNote, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open OneNote and click on the "Draw" tab.
    2. Click on the "Lasso Select" tool.
    3. Hold down the "Spacebar" key on your keyboard.
    4. While holding down the "Spacebar" key, click and drag your mouse to pan around the page.

If you believe someone made changes to your settings, you can reset OneNote to its default settings: a. Close OneNote. b. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. c. Type "OneNote /reset" (without the quotes) and press Enter. This command will reset OneNote to its default settings.

If this method does not work, you can try customizing the Quick Access Toolbar in OneNote to add the Panning Hand command. Here are the steps:

    1. Click on the "File" tab in OneNote.
    2. Click on "Options" and then click on "Quick Access Toolbar".
    3. In the "Choose commands from" drop-down menu, select "All Commands".
    4. Scroll down and select "Panning Hand".
    5. Click on the "Add" button to add the Panning Hand command to the Quick Access Toolbar.
    6. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Once you have added the Panning Hand command to the Quick Access Toolbar, you can click on the icon to activate the Panning Hand tool and use it to pan around the page.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best Regards, Umar Majeed
