A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data
Dear respected Michele Mitchell,
Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
I’m sorry you’re having a problem with but based on your description we can work together to resolve it.
For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.
As per your description, instead of clicking on option "repair now" if possible, could you please tryrepair an Office application to fix the problem.
Also, you can open your Excel insafe mode to check whether it related to add-ins:
If this situation disappeared in Safe Mode, then this issue could be caused by the incompatible add-ins, you can disable add-ins by this way: Open Excel>add-ins>Disable add-ins. For reference: disable application add-ins and COM add-ins
Also, you can uninstall Office 365 completely by using Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) as uninstalling Office through Control Panel > Programs & Features would keep some preferences for next installation.
Then re-install Office. If you have an Office 365 for Business or Education subscription, you can log into Office portal with the corresponding account and click Install Office button to install.
If above doesn't work from your side, then I think this issue might be raised by your local environment (Settings, Registry).
Given this situation, I would suggest you follow the methods below and see if they could help in your scenario:
1.Perform aClean Boot under your Windows, and check if issue persist.
2.Maybe the local settings had affected the application. Thus, we would like you to check whether the issue is related to your user profile. In this situation, we suggest you Create a new user account under your Windows. See if it still alerts you with the same error message. It is worth trying because it will help you narrow down whether the issue is caused by a specific corrupted user profile.
We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial suggestions may not resolve the problem very soon. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.
- Is this a problem with all Excel documents? Or some specific documents?
2.Screenshot of your Office version: To check version: Open any Office e.g., Excel>File>Account>Product Information (Please mask your private message for protecting your private message)
3.Confirm whether other applications also get the same problem? Such as PowerPoint or Word and etc.
4.Does this issue happen to new created files?
Appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Waqas Muhammad
