Too Many Objects

A few weeks ago when opening excel in my browser started it view only mode instead of automatically in editing mode (which it was doing for months with no trouble). When I switch to editing mode the message "prepare to edit" comes up with a prompt to either Remove or Skip. When I press Remove an error comes up saying "Too Many Objects" with the options to Open in Desktop App or Continue in Browser. When I press Continue in Browser it starts working for a time, but when someone else logs on at the same time I'm unable to continue editing the file. The Excel app doesn't have this problem, but I need to use the browser file so multiple people can work on the file at the same time. Also, nothing was added, that I'm aware of, that would cause this issues. Is there a way to fix this?

I am having the same issue.

There was no issue in the last two years but started to pop up recently. I didn't have any chart, shape or picture in my workbook apart from those red / amber / green icons in conditional formatting.

I can send the sample document but would you please let me know how? Email?

Could you share us a test workbook without sensitive information in it to reproduce your issue. Then we may give suggestions on it.

For sharing a sample workbook, upload to OneDrive or any other cloud drives. Then post a link here.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open the file in the desktop app and remove any unnecessary objects, such as charts or images, that may be causing the issue.
    2. If the issue persists, you can try creating a new file and copying the data from the original file into the new file. This should remove any unnecessary objects.
