Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hello Cicely S,
I'm Shalom and I'd happily help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.
Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
- Check Admin Access: Ensure that your admin account has the necessary permissions to access other mailboxes. In Microsoft 365 admin center, go to "Users" > "Active users" > select the user > "Mail settings". Make sure you have the appropriate permissions for accessing their mailbox.
- Password Reset: If you're having trouble accessing the mailbox even with admin privileges, you might consider resetting the password for that user's account. This can be done through the Microsoft 365 admin center. After resetting the password, try accessing the mailbox again.
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): If the user's mailbox is protected by two-factor authentication, you'll need to ensure that you can authenticate properly. If the authenticator app isn't working, you might try using backup codes or contacting Microsoft support for further assistance with 2FA issues.
- Accessing Mailbox Directly: You can use the Exchange admin center to grant yourself access to the user's mailbox. In the Exchange admin center, go to "Recipients" > "Mailboxes" > select the user > "Mailbox delegation" > "Full Access". Add your admin account there.
- Permission Inheritance: Sometimes, permissions might not propagate correctly. Check if the user's mailbox permissions are set to inherit from parent folders.
- Try a Different Browser or Device: Sometimes browser cache or cookies can cause authentication issues. Try accessing the mailbox from a different browser or device.
Remember to follow your organization's security protocols and Microsoft's best practices while attempting to access user mailboxes.
Best Regards, Shalom
