Hi, Running a Virtual Machine. Did not log in for awhile because of some billing issues. When I logged in today, strong suggestion was made to update Windows. I agreed. Expectedly, required restart broke connection. Connection was still not available after 30 minutes. I did a stop/start in Azure App. Several times the status listed as "Updating". Tried restarts after 20 minutes. On all occasions, connection did not work. Most recent start changed status to "Running". Connection still fails. Pings of IP address time out. Any ideas?

Check boot diagnostics in the left hand pane of the VM's page in the Azure portal. You should be able to see a screen shot and tell if the VM is finishing the boot process. If the VM is not finishing the boot process you will most likely need to utilize nested virtualization to troubleshoot.
