Admin account - can't authenticate via authenticator app- urgent problem

Hi, I run a small business and am locked into a circular problem. I'm the only administrator in the company. I need to reset my microsoft authenticator account, but I can't. Here's the issue:

  1. My main account for my organization was 'greyed out' in microsoft authenticator, meaning I couldn't get any push requests to my phone, or access any temporary codes
  2. I require only secondary authentication via the app for MSA as a global policy
  3. Microsoft is directing me to reset my password, which I can do- but I still then cannot log into the account because I can only authenticate via the app
  4. I cannot log in as admin to get support directly out of the admin center
  5. When calling the technical support line, it tells me that I have a log in issue that can only be solved online- but again, I cannot get into my account via password reset. Now when I call the support line they hang up on me immediately- I have no way of speaking with the team that supports account administrators.

I was only able to post this because (luckily!) I can still log into my secondary account (which has no admin authorities).

Can someone please help me??

    Hello Brad Rager,

I totally understand the situation you are facing. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide additional suggestions to this issue caused by Microsoft Authenticator as such topic is not supported in Microsoft Answers community.

Sincerely, I suggest you post your question to Microsoft Authenticator expertise in Microsoft Authenticator forum. Hope you can get a solid solution there.

    Best Regards,

    Ryan
