If the error message suggests that you should click Repair Now, decline that suggestion and instead start an online repair from Windows Settings. See https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b.

Hello GailCaiazzo! I'm Gunasekar and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

I understand that you are experiencing issues with the Microsoft Word Program. You could try the following suggestions below one by one and check the outcome.

    1. Open Word in Safe mode.

When you run Word in safe mode, it bypasses functionality and settings such as alternative startup location, changed toolbars, startup folders used by Word, Word add-ins, and most COM add-ins. While add-ins can enhance your experience, they can occasionally interfere, or conflict with Word.

To open Word in safe mode, Click Windows Key + R altogether, Type winword /safe Click enter.

    1. Install the latest updates.

You might need to set Windows Update to automatically download and install recommended updates.

Open Microsoft Word > Select File > Accounts > Update Options > Click update now.

    1. Repair Office applications.

    A. Click Start and select settings. B. Click Apps and features. C. Find Microsoft Office 365 in the lists, and click three dots next to it. D. select Modify. E. Perform an Online repair.

When it is done, Restart your PC.

    1. If the issue persists, Uninstall and Re-install Office.

Follow the instructions below to uninstall and re-install Microsoft Office on your computer.

    Uninstall Office: https://support.microsoft.com/help/9dd49b83-264a-477a-8fcc-2fdf5dbf61d8

    Install Office: https://support.microsoft.com/help/4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let me know and I’ll be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards,

    Gunasekar N
