Java application unresponsive and log file freezes when this issue occurs.

Our java application becomes unresponsive and the log file freezes , there is no details captured in log files when the issue occurs . We restart the windows services to bring the application back. We havent found a pattern but the issue occurs once a month or once in two months . We have the application hosted on tomcat8.5 in two servers and the issue occurs in both servers. I have memory dump but not sure how to read/understand it . can you please help me?

It sounds like you’re experiencing a frustrating issue with your Java application becoming unresponsive and the log file freezing. From the information you’ve provided, it seems that the issue occurs intermittently, once a month or once in two months, and you haven’t found a pattern yet. You mentioned that you have a memory dump but are not sure how to read or understand it.

One way to determine whether the freeze is occurring in the application or in the JVM is to try to generate a thread dump. On Windows, you can do this by pressing Ctrl-Break. On Linux and Solaris, you can send SIGQUIT (kill -3) to the parent Java Process ID.

If you’re still having trouble understanding the memory dump or resolving the issue, it might be helpful to seek assistance from a developer or IT professional who has experience with Java and Tomcat.
