I have a PowerPoint presentation which I am trying to record an audio narrative to, using an external microphone. It appears to record OK and when I hover my mouse over the loudspeaker icon on the slide, it plays back fine from the audio slider. But if I turn the computer off and come back to it later, the icon is still there but the audio slide doesn’t appear when I hover over it. I cannot work out how to get it back. Can you help me solve this? Thanks.

Hello Boris of Adelaide
Hope you are doing well today!
As what you have mentioned above. You are using the current version of PowerPoint app and the issue occur. When you changed the version it works fine. If this is the case, probably there is a glitch of the current version of your PowerPoint app. If possible you may use the current version of PPT and try to check if there is any update available. Updating the app would help us correct the problem. If there is no update available. You may continue using the version that works for you. The time that there is an update available. You may go ahead and install the update to fix the problem in a long run.

I replied by email but it bounced. I discovered the problem - I was using an earlier version of PowerPoint - once I changed to the current version, it worked fine
Hello Boris of Adelaide
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I understand that you have an issue accessing the record files from your PowerPoint presentation wherein the slider did not appear. Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.
For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:
One possible solution could be to try reinserting the audio file into your presentation. To do this, delete the existing audio icon from your slide, then go to the Insert tab and click on Audio. From there, you can select Audio on My PC and navigate to the location of your saved audio file.
If this doesn’t work, you may want to try repairing your Office installation. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, find your Microsoft Office installation in the list of programs, right-click on it and select Change. From there, you can select Quick Repair or Online Repair.
We look forward to your next response.
