Microsoft Editor Doesn't work in the web version of Word

Okay, so here’s the situation.

Everything discussed below only applies to the web browser version of Microsoft Word, not the installable application

I love Microsoft Editor and I got the family subscription for it, so I'm getting all the help with it, which is wonderful.

However, Editor seems to have this issue when I'm making a word document in the web version of word and not the actual installed software. Whenever I'm typing up anything, the Editor says that what I have is 100% perfectly fine. Even obvious errors are getting ignored.

Again, this only happens in the web version of Word and not the software. On the software, Editor is able to pick up on anything and everything. (I do have this minor issue with a very very large document that it finds almost a thousand errors and apparent it makes Word stop responding and I have to restart it, but that’s a whole other story)

Even this whole thing you’re reading right now, I wrote in word and the entire time, Editor never noticed anything wrong at all.

It Editor doing alright? Are they doing something with it right now? I’d like to get back to my work and I kinda depend on Editor.

    Hello there,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I understand how important the Microsoft Editor is for your work in Word.

The behavior you described, where Microsoft Editor is not detecting errors in the web version of Word but works fine in the installed software, could be due to some settings or compatibility issues specific to the web version. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, browser cache can cause unexpected behavior. Try clearing the cache and cookies of your web browser and see if that resolves the issue.
    2. Ensure Editor is Enabled: Check if the Microsoft Editor is enabled in the web version of Word. To do this, open a Word document in your web browser, click on the "Review" tab, and make sure the Editor option is turned on.
    3. Use a Supported Browser: Ensure you are using a supported web browser for the web version of Word. Microsoft Editor may function differently on different browsers, so it's recommended to use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome for the best compatibility.
    4. Check Language Settings: Verify that the correct language is selected for proofing in your Word document. Sometimes, language settings can affect how the Editor works.
    5. Update Office 365: Ensure your Office 365 subscription is up-to-date. Sometimes, updates can improve the functionality of Office applications, including the web version of Word.
    6. Contact Microsoft Support: If the issue persists, it's best to contact Microsoft Support directly. They can provide further assistance and investigate any ongoing issues with Microsoft Editor.

To contact Microsoft Support, visit the official Microsoft Support website (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/) and follow the prompts to get in touch with a support representative who can help you with the Microsoft Editor issue.

I hope these steps help you get back to using Microsoft Editor seamlessly in the web version of Word. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.

    Best regards, Ivan

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me with this information, but sadly these aren’t helping me.

I just now cleared all of my caches and re-logged in, but the issue still persists.

I made sure that Editor is enabled, I’m using Microsoft Edge as my browser, my language settings are set to English, but nothing is changed.

Microsoft 365 is also updated for me, so nothing there.

I will be contacting Microsoft support about this.

    Thank you.
